ALMOST

ALMOST
The last weeks have been very busy to get it all done for the expo.

Silent Reflection

Art  and symbols go hand in hand. Therefor i went to my old stomping ground to get some photos of where perhaps it once all began. Symbolic making connections between one place and the other. Using Earth Pigments from different places, Gom Terpentine from the Pines in Portugal.

Willow Trail

The willow trail goes to the river where, as a teenager, many days were spend to hide from the outer world. A cycle ride, no car in my household, not now, not than, choosing the right time for some other reflections.

double tripple

In between being in contact with Alcoutim where the expo will be, talking about titles, artists statement, text for leaflets and of course images. Well some images did go fine yet others came out almost right, almost but still not. The double exposure way of showing photos without photoshop is a challenge, almost there.

Like a Painting

Than while watching the sunrise making time for painting as some photos come out like paintings. The need for more skills was demanding a bit of time for reading and experimenting to get the effect i was looking for. Yes, it is so much easier to just buy some ready made frames to put the photos in but not so creative, much more expensieve and too heavy for on the plane.

What’s wrong

Almost got the effect and than problems creep around the corner and it is almost completely wrong. New experiments after yet an other trip to Rotterdam to get once again more material. To make paint from Earth Pigments is an other story. You need some chemistry to make it all the way you want and by times it is almost finished.
Other ingredients are: Linseed oil, home made glue with potato starch, paper, recycled carton (ugly grey stuf), double sided sticky tape and terpentine.
The tools are fascinating, glass plate, pipets, brushes, pallet knife, spoons, forks oh and where is the scissor.

Much Better

All the photos are printed and ready, half of the painting is done all the cutting to the size of the portfolio is done. If that was all it would be fine but in the meantime i bent my head around all the legal sorting for the realisation of the Land Art Bos, yep changed the name. Land Art Forest L.A.F. means in dutch cowardly and Land Art Bos L.A.B. stands for laboratory which is not so bad and it shows the multi languages, multi attitudes, multicultural of the project. We now have a ‘vereniging’ an association were soon people can become a member of, more of this at a later time. To top it off the bookings and life moves on like the restoration of an old wooden boat.

OK i am tired but Almost there.

  1. Very good work! It’s always exhausting to complete an art exhibit. Don’t forget to take care of your basic health as you reach the final stretch. I used to forget to eat and drink water, and I’d end up with a terrible headache. So remember yourself in the last minute preparations too. I hope you have a wonderful time at the show and get a chance to step back and enjoy all that you have done!
