BackGround

Something a bit different.

In the progress of making a slideshow for the exhibition, sort of powerpoint. The slides are made with photos and text and at times there is a need for some neutral background instead of blinding white.

SO

The camera became a paintbrush with at times good results even from the 230 shots just 5 are suitable.

OK this is not what was expected but what the eyes see the camera shall capture

the beauty being self employed no boss tells you that was not your task, or job description for today nor quality controle

no excuses needed

Paper

The ideas around the exhibition taking more shape. Paper forms a part of one of the two ideas that will come to fruition.

Most photos will cover the paper, this time the paper will cover the photos. Paper relates to trees and nature. We can make paper from different material not just wood pulp, you don’t even need to cut the tree to get the pulp.
The making of the paper by myself did pass by. A trip to the art supply shop followed.

Plant Paper

It is for sure they have better paper than i will ever been able to make. The touch of the paper must be right, not smooth but rough. Yet, the looks must be plain so not to take away the eye from the photos.

Recycled paper

Keep in mind the environmental impact of paper. So 4 sheets of paper are here to experiment with to make a final decision.
It all depends how the paper will act with the drop technic i want to use.
The idea came from accidental art, art that just happens but is not planned.

Letting a drop of water run over paper with pigment and see what comes out.
The next department in de shop was, pigments and well earth pigments.
The roots of the tree stand in earth even touching stones and rocks. Trees need water and water need trees, hence the drop of water.
The earth pigments were used for early art, cave art many might have washed away some stayed.
It will be a new challenge to learn how to make paint from ground sources, it fits better within the picture of Land Art.

Charcoal will come in as well, willow charcoal and chalk, Dover chalk.
The next few weeks will be dedicated to messy experiments to get the final image just about right.

The exhibition will not be filled with old photos or material. It will also not picture an image of the Land Art Forest.
Subtle connections will flow through the rhetoric of the exhibition.
Painting and photography have been in a kind of debate, taking opposite visions, here they will come together to form one.

Music will not come into the picture nor film that will only happen in the viewer mind.
